New Year’s Honour for Cllr Woodward

Congratulations to Cllr Brian Woodward, chairman of Maulden Parish Council, who has been recognised in King Charles III’s first New Year Honours list.

Brian has been awarded the BEM – Medal Of The Order Of The British Empire – for services to local government as a parish councillor for 50 years, and to the community in Bedfordshire including working the Royal British Legion for half a century.

He is one of 12 outstanding Bedfordshire residents to be honoured, and HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Susan Lousada said: “I am proud and delighted that so many people living in Bedfordshire have been recognised by His Majesty The King.

“These medals are only awarded to those who have achieved something outstanding in public life, or who have selflessly improved the lives of others within their local community or nationally. I would like to congratulate them all on receiving their awards.”

Brian is pictured receiving his Maulden Parish Council 50 years Long-Service Award from the Lord-Lieutenant at the village party celebrating the Late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in the summer.
