Unfortunately there are ongoing issues with dogs being allowed to run loose and dog fouling in The Rec and across the Allotments in Maulden.
The Rec is subject to CBC’s public space protection orders regarding dogs on leads, fouling of land by dogs, and dog exclusion.
This means dogs are excluded completely from the fenced play area in The Rec, and must be kept on leads of not more than two metres on the marked sports pitches in The Rec – in reality that means dogs need to be kept on lead throughout The Rec to prevent them running off-lead over the sports pitches.
All dog faeces must also be cleared up and removed from all public spaces – being unaware of where they’ve pooped and having no device for clearing it up are no excuse.=
On the Allotments, MPC and the Charities have tenancy agreements stating no dogs are allowed on site unless supervised and controlled by the plot holder, and all dog faeces must be cleared from the site.
CBC have indicated their PSPOs also apply to the Allotments because they are spaces accessible by the public even though there is no public right of way.
As with all these things, the actions of the few impact the majority but Maulden Parish Council have to address this. To prevent MPC having to take it any further – CBC have the power the fine people up to £1,000 for these offences – please do keep your dog on a lead throughout The Rec and the Allotments, and clear up all dog poo.
