Bridleway latest update
At today’s stakeholders’ online meeting (Tuesday, April 28), all parties agreed that a diversion needs to be found so any proposed BW32 route avoids the graveyard, along with Church Meadows SSSI as far as possible.
Discussions are ongoing to find a suitable option which meets the legal parameters allowed.
All parties also agree that a temporary closure order (TCO) is required for the route that is the subject of the Central Bedfordshire Council (Definitive Map And Statement For Central Bedfordshire) (Maulden: Bridleway No. 32) Modification Order 2026.
There are costs involved for a TCO, which lasts six months but can be extended, usually for six months at a time, and CBC will be initiating the TCO process as soon as possible.
MPC will keep the public fully informed at each stage, and call a face-to-face meeting as appropriate for further updates.
The deadline for responses to the Modification Order is Thursday, April 30. These need to be sent to definitivemap@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk and concentrate on physical evidence such as maps and photographs as well as memories of whether or not a bridleway has been used in this location.
If you have been affected by the issues raised, information about bereavement and mental health support available can be found here.
