CBC have announced the A507 western arm of the A6 roundabout is to be completely closed from 9.30am on January 26 through to 5am on January 30 (extended from January 29) for statutory infrastructure works.
There will be manually-controlled three-way traffic lights in place and a diversion route along similar-sized A roads will be signposted.
To prevent the gridlock and chaos that occurred on previous closures please follow the signed diversion and avoid using the village roads as a cut-through, there is a 7.5 tonne weight restriction in place and the routes are not suitable for A-road types of vehicles and levels of traffic.
However, CBC do intend implementing temporary parking restrictions in Clophill Road, Maulden, between the A6 junction and the junction with the spur road to the A507 – Maulden Parish Council have been assured that the attached notice is to be corrected to confirm this shorter section.
Despite MPC requests, CBC have no plans to implement any safety measures, traffic calming or help for Maulden residents who will be affected by this closure.
